As the Moms in Prayer Prison Ministry Facilitator, I would like to share several more heartwarming testimonies with you.

One group is in its fifth year of praying with moms in the local county jail. They now have two groups that meet weekly and a third is in the proposal stage. All of the volunteers have been touched personally by answered prayer for their children and want the mothers, grandmothers, sisters, friends and cousins of those in jail
to be blessed by these prayers as well. Each week they cover Praise, Confession, Thanksgiving and Intercession. The leader shares from her personal experience what God has taught her in this area using the Bible verses. Many times tears of conviction flow. Most often the Gospel is incorporated into the lesson as clearly as possible.

When the group starts intercessory prayer, where a family member is chosen to be prayed for scripturally, it seems God always places the right person with the right verse. They ask the women to add their special requests and then teach them how to pray for each other. This is very moving to hear them lift up each other’s concerns. A great blessing of Moms in Prayer is to hear others pray for your children. Many of the women in jail attend church and pray fluently and sincerely.

An extra blessing for the women is when the Moms in Prayer group prays for the ladies' court dates and sees God move in miraculous ways to shorten their stay and honor their commitments to please God and not return to their former lifestyles.  Many seek God while in jail. One woman came to the group to pray for a friend’s child. She was in prison for two years, but all that time the leader sent her Moms in Prayer information, and she started groups as she moved to different locations in the prison. She was consistently encouraged and she said these words of support came right when she needed them.   

This precious woman has been out of prison for one year now, and she teaches Sunday school, works and has spoken at a town meeting for the state correction agency and at a fundraiser for Prison Fellowship. She highlights the importance of mentors who walk beside prisoners and churches that are willing to welcome former inmates with open arms. She is now hoping to work for Habitat for Humanity as an office manager.

Another woman came to Moms in Prayer meetings for about five months. She was a young woman with a toddler and caught in alcohol addiction. Recently she completed a program to help end her addiction. She thanked the leader for believing in her. 

In another prison during a holiday celebration and Moms in Prayer prayer time, 97 prisoners joined together to pray. While praying, one lady sobbed about how much this group meant to her and how badly she needed it! These women carry so much guilt, condemnation and regret that only God can remove it from them, and we believe He is doing just that!

Praise the Lord for how He is gathering women to pray in the prisons and jails, how He is healing their hearts, and that He has blessed us with a new Moms in Prayer Prison Liaison in Pennsylvania.

Moms in Prayer International has five prison liaisons in the states of Arkansas, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey and Pennsylvania with a passion and vision to gather moms together to pray for their children and schools. There are Moms in Prayer prison groups nationwide in 32 states, and we would love to have more!
