Connecting with other women cross-culturally is exciting, especially when I can share the Four
Steps of Prayer that has been one of God’s primary tools of transformation in my own life and in the lives of my girls. The Lord did great things in Nyanza, Rwanda, where Audrey West and I were able to tag along with our Heavenly Dad through the entire experience!
The morning of the conference, I slipped out of bed early and went out in the hallway to pray. Soon Audrey emerged and both of us crumpled up on the concrete floor and wept before God, pleading for the Holy Spirit to minister to the Rwandan women and to teach them and care for them throughout the conference.
Later that morning, we left for the meeting with over 200 Kinyarwanda Booklets. As we slipped in the door of the conference, we were met by a barrage of bright color. Lime green and vibrant orange banners were draped across the wall of the church while the beautiful women of Rwanda in their bright native dresses swayed and danced in a spirit of celebration. Audrey and I were swept up in the glorious worship of our Savior.
We took turns sharing from different segments of the Booklet, interjecting personal testimonies, answering questions and working our way through one accord prayer. We explained, demonstrated and had the women practice the Four Steps of Prayer. As I began to teach on confession, I shared the Gospel and three women came forward to profess new faith in Jesus Christ! Near the end of the day, we asked everyone to stand together and read scriptural promises out loud from the Booklet. I suspect that any dark powers near that church must have shuddered with fear as voices proclaimed the Word of God in unison and faith rose in the hearts of those Rwandan women.
Day two was even more powerful. The women asked insightful questions, making it very clear that they had studied the Booklet. We shifted to the topic of leadership and invited the Holy Spirit to call those of His choosing to accept responsibility for leading a Moms in Prayer group. Sixty four women came forward, and we prayed over them! We then asked them to disperse throughout the room and had the other women gather in small groups around the new leaders. Finally, we walked everyone through a practice run of a Moms in Prayer session.
As the conference came to a close, several women as well as the host pastor, were eager to stand and testify to the work that God had accomplished through the Moms in Prayer conference in Rwanda. Pastor Zachariah expressed his thanks, “You have brought vision to the hearts of Christian moms of this nation. God is so great. He has opened our eyes.” He then read to us these words from Isaiah 52:7 (NASB): “How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who announces peace and brings good news of happiness, who announces salvation, and says to Zion (Rwanda), ‘Your God reigns!’”
Please continue to intercede on behalf of the women and children of Rwanda:
* For God’s covering of protection over the seeds planted in their lives.
* For joy, unity, faith and power in the Holy Spirit as they form their new Moms in Prayer groups.
* That God would help the new Moms in Prayer Rwanda teams to bear much fruit.
* For good communication with headquarters here in the U.S. so that we can be an ongoing source of encouragement and help to them as God continues to work out His plan for Moms in Prayer in Rwanda.
Imana Ishimwe! God be praised!
