Varsha and I were honored to be invited by Pastor Rob Foster to share Moms in Prayer International at two women's conferences in Manipur, India. Our host was Reverend Deepak Bardewa.
Varsha and I, who are both from India, enjoyed our time with the ladies in Manipur. God gave us the words to speak during the conferences at two different villages. I introduced Moms in Prayer to the women and Varsha spoke about Christian family values including raising godly children and building solid family relationships. We encouraged all of the ladies to start praying for their children.
The first conference was crowded, with 66 ladies in attendance. These women were believers but had never been taught how to take the time to pray for their children. They responded enthusiastically. One older lady said she used to pray for her children to marry according to God's will, but once her daughters eloped, she gave up praying for them. After hearing our message, she decided to start praying again for her unmarried sons and grandkids. At the end of the session, several ladies raised their hands to commit to start praying for their children and schools!
Twenty women attended the second conference where we observed several new believers. One of them told us that hearing this message was timely. She married at age 13 and now has two teenage children. It became clear to her that she needs to start praying for them.
Please pray that God will continue to press upon the hearts of these moms to start praying, that groups will form, and that the children and schools in Manipur will be prayed for!
What's next? Pastor Rob is planning to return to Manipur, from Temecula, California, next year to help lead the Thadou Women's Society conference. It will be interesting to see how they have implemented the prayer groups and to determine if the efforts Varsha and I made will bear much fruit.
