The Lord Impacts India with Moms in Prayer | |
God is calling moms to pray throughout India. In three separate locations throughout this large country, where Hinduism is the dominant religion, women who love Jesus Christ are coming together to pray. To God be the glory!
Crying Out to God in Vellore Grace Moses' heart was overflowing with joy and thanksgiving as the Lord blessed their Arise! Cry Out! event in Vellore, India, in the fall of 2011. Just two years prior to this, Grace attended the Moms in Prayer 25th Anniversary Arise! Cry Out! celebration in the USA, where women from around the world gathered to thank God for His faithfulness, to worship and to pray the Four Steps of Prayer together. The impact of the event was so great that Grace felt led to hold a similar event in her area of Vellore where she is an Area Coordinator. Forty eight moms attended the event where Mrs. Bhupathi gave a message that touched all the moms' hearts, and God's presence filled the chapel. Following prayer time, the women were so blessed by this experience that each of them wanted to start or join a Moms in Prayer group!
Distributing 1,000 Booklets in Ongole North of Vellore in the bayside city of Ongole, Denise Dickinson, a Moms in Prayer mom of 12 years, shared the ministry with Rama Chintapalli, President of WINGS (Welfare of Innocent Neglected Guarding Society). The WINGS ministry manages a children’s home for destitute and orphaned kids and also a Bible school for preaching. Rama, his wife Udaya, her sister Raga, and one of the Bible college instructors, George Vagula, helped translate the Ministry Booklet into the Telugu language. Rama and his family distributed 1,000 Booklets to preachers and their wives, while Denise’s husband, Stephen, and their daughter, Ryan, took part in a mission trip there. Rama's mother, Lakshmi, has also encouraged the moms in this region for years, many of whom are young widows. Several days after the Booklet distribution, Stephen, Rama and Udaya held a Gospel meeting where they witnessed God's faithfulness. During their visit, they noticed many women carrying the Telugu Booklets with smiles on their faces, grateful to have this incredible resource! Since that time, the demand for Booklets has increased significantly, prompting Denise and Stephen’s church to help Rama purchase another 1,300 copies. Most of these have been sent to the praying moms in the coastal region of Southeast India. Praise the Lord!
Learning to pray for children in Hyderabad A few hours north of Ongole in Hyderabad, India, Moms in Prayer leader Jodie Berndt from the USA led mothers through the Four Steps of Prayer. She also left 50 copies of the Booklet with them. During the hour, they praised God for His Faithfulness. As the moms prayed for their children, Jodie was struck by how similar their requests were to those of the moms in her own group back home in the USA. “As mothers, we desire godly friendships for our children, as well as protection from drugs and alcohol and, more than anything else, a passion to follow Christ,” observed Jodie. Several mothers expressed their interest in praying with one another, and one mother told Jodie that she had formerly prayed in a Moms in Prayer group in another area of India and was now encouraged to do so again. For many of the moms, this prayer time was transformational. Several women came up to Jodie at the end of the conference with tears in their eyes and thanked her for the teaching because they had never thought to pray for their own children and had never been taught to pray Scripture to ask God for His provision and protection over their families. Jodie was excited to return home to her Moms in Prayer group and share the Indian mothers' requests so that her group could be praying for them. Incredible!
