Moms In Touch International officially started in the Netherlands in 2001 when eight mothers began to pray for their children and schools. Enthusiasm grew as they witnessed God do amazing things in their children’s lives when they prayed Scriptures for them, following the Four Steps of Prayer. These moms were convinced that other women in the Netherlands needed to know about Moms In Touch International, called Moeders in Gebed in Dutch. With the help of others, these moms were instrumental in getting the MITI booklet translated into Dutch.
In February 2009, we started a team and began to pray about how to divide the MITI Netherlands responsibilities. I am on the team with Elly, who has been praying with MITI for six years, Mariska, Inge, Mariëlle and Atie.
For Arise! Cry Out!, 40 women enjoyed the time of prayer in the town of Nieuw Vennep. I have to admit that the preparations for this day were rather exhausting. Some of us were very busy and others were nervous given this was the first large event we planned as a newly formed team. It was actually a kind of test case for us to see how we well we could cooperate with each other and with God.
As worried as we seemed, the day was just wonderful. We had unity in our team, and as soon as we started singing together with all the women, a kind and warm atmosphere filled the room. The moms visiting confirmed this was a special event. We also had a short time of diving deeper into the Word of God by a mom who felt nervous to speak. Even though she was fairly new to teaching, it was clear that God had equipped her since the time was heartwarming and really built our faith.
During our time of prayer, we noticed that although not all the women knew each other, God provided a loving atmosphere and gave us all a feeling of unity. Walls were broken down and together we prayed for our children, schools and special problems relating to our children. Moms went home with the exhilaration from a great day and were looking forward to the next event!
One of the testimonies from a mom in the Netherlands encourages us that God is faithful. This mom had been in a MITI group for several years with only 2-4 women praying at any given time. One of the mothers decided to pray that this group would grow enormously. She continued to do this over the next several weeks and that very year, more than three times as many mothers came to pray in their group. They even decided to split the groups because there were so many moms. Now more children will be covered in prayer.
