The nation where I live was closed to the outside world until the 1950s and although it began as a Buddhist country is now primarily Hindu. My husband came from a family with generations of Hindu priests and was destined to follow this path until God reached out to him one day 40 years ago when someone handed him a New Testament. He accepted Christ later even though his family disowned him. For many years following, he preached the Gospel throughout our country and was held in custody by the police undergoing severe interrogations, prison sentences and beatings. But God continued to work through him to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ to the people of our country.
Fast forward to the 1990s when my husband and I founded a Christian outreach organization. For over a decade now, we have been sending out teams to preach the Gospel, plant churches and train new believers. We also started a Bible correspondence course of which thousands of people have enrolled in. Another part of our ministry is family seminars and traveling to rural villages to hold fellowship meetings with families. Through this, I have seen the need for prayer for these families and became familiar with Moms In Touch about three years ago.
We were so grateful for the opportunity to get together and pray for the children and families in our country and around the world in November. Because Saturday is our Sabbath, we gathered to Arise! and Cry Out! on Friday, November 13th. Our group was small with only six moms, but we had a wonderful time of prayer and cried out to the Lord for three hours. Following the prayer list helped us as we moved through each section of praise, confession, thanksgiving and intercession. Other small prayer groups also met on November 13th in our area.
I pray that God continues to bring many more moms to pray for their children and will lead them to affect the next generation. My country has gone from a handful of Christian believers back in the 1950s to one million believers today. It is miraculous to see the hand of God as He carries out His specific purposes in our lives and in my country that is primarily Hindu. My husband's background as a former Hindu priest enables him to witness to the high caste groups. Many who are listening are the political and religious leaders of whom God is moving on their hearts. This has the potential to bring extensive changes in this Hindu nation.
