Influencing Future Generations in Guatemala
By Roxana Brolo MITI Country Coordinator in Guatemala |
In the capital city of Guatemala, 184 women gathered to take part in the worldwide prayer wave that started in one part of the world and reached Guatemala City several hours later. The MITI group began the event by singing the Guatemala national hymn. After the Arise! Cry Out! DVD started, everyone was excited to see Fern and the Country Coordinators from around the world repeat "Worthy is the Lamb" in each of their native languages. As the Country Coordinator for Moms In Touch Guatemala, I was also part of this touching moment that originally took place in October at the Arise! Cry Out! live event.
The program continued as the women prayed the Four Steps and sang songs of praise to God in Spanish accompanied by a live group and several musical instruments. A powerful testimony followed, one that touched everyone at the event. It was the story of an ex-prodigal son and how the prayers of a mother and grandmother resulted in an amazing work of the Lord when God gave these women abundantly above all they could ask for: This prodigal son had become a pastor. The son was present at the prayer event and gave his mother public recognition by presenting her with a warrior statue inscribed with the words, "To my Mom, a prayer champion. Thank you Mom because your prayers were answered." This brave mom had prayed for ten years and, through her obedience, experienced a prodigal son running home and the blessing of encouraging almost 200 women present at Arise! Cry Out! in Guatemala.
They also heard from a young mom who had learned to be a prayer warrior since she was a little girl and is now teaching the same to her children. She shared the miracles that had taken place in her family because of prayer. She is now part of a MITI group of American ladies in Guatemala that pray in English for their children in the American school for missionaries. After listening to the powerful way that God has moved in the lives of these praying women, many others wanted to start their own MITI groups. Hallelujah to God Almighty who listens to our prayers! |
