Testimonies from Bless Our Schools Sunday
Each Bless Our Schools Sunday, the third Sunday of September, churches around the globe cry out to the Lord for children and schools. Teachers are encouraged. Children are blessed.
Some schools will have been in session for several weeks, others are just getting into the swing of the new semester. Yet, for each church that participated, there was a special bond knowing that other congregations were pouring out prayer blessings on schools that same day.
In addition to the United States, countries that we know have been participating include Uganda, China, Greece, Rwanda, Norway, Canada, Great Britain, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Sweden, Ireland, Switzerland, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Kenya, Netherlands, Italy and Costa Rica.
Here is a sampling of testimonies:
United States
“What a great privilege and responsibility we have, as a church, to raise up godly men and women. It is critical that we support them in prayer, as well as the teachers and staff who daily interact with and teach them. Bless Our Schools Sunday is an awesome opportunity for us to intercede on behalf of our students, teachers and staff, to show our support and encouragement of them and to raise up the awareness of our need to lift them in prayer.”
Pakistan
“The moms had never prayed like that for their kids. They had a good experience. We need prayer for the future of our kids, especially in Pakistan.”
Sweden
“I think we are in the beginning of something new in the prayer life of our church.”
Switzerland
“It was a short time of prayer, but it was very powerful. We also sang a song especially for blessing the schools. Thank you, Jesus, for this wonderful blessing time!”
United States
“As a grandma and retired teacher, the need and vision of this ministry is remarkable to me! What a privilege to call unto the Lord on behalf of students and staff!”
Indiana, USA
“It was just a great opportunity to show our students and school staffs that they are important to us as a church and to God, and that we wanted to pray for them specifically. We also prayed for them to be a great witness of God's love in our schools as well. It was a great day.”
Michigan, USA
“I look forward to this next year. Our schools need all the positive attention they can get, with prayer being such an important part."
Ohio, USA
“Our Bless Our Schools day gave hope to our community to build a better tomorrow for our children, and because of this we as a community church are planning to reach out and build a better tomorrow for all children and families.”
Moreno Valley, CA, USA
“We were blessed to be part of Bless Our Schools Sunday. It was a wonderful and special day as all staff, teachers, students, along with any other school district employees stood to get prayed for by our church. It was encouraging to know that our pastor is a prayer warrior and hopes that each and every person in our church would commit to prayer. We set up a Moms In Touch (now Moms in Prayer) table after the service, and I believe through this event, many hearts were touched and encouraged to pray for their children!”
Missouri, USA
“A school secretary said, ‘It really inspired me.’ That warmed my heart! The congregation was very receptive. Thank you, MITI (now Moms in Prayer), for designing this. Just one more way MITI can serve the community.”
Tennessee, USA
“The Pastor read Psalm 119. At each pause in the reading, Moms in Prayer members would go forward and light a candle for each school in the county. Very powerful and very moving.”
Queens, New York, USA
“The Lord directed one mighty prayerful church to open its doors to the first Bless Our Schools Sunday where Moms in Prayer was an integral part of the service. Dearest Sweet Sisters, after 20 years of praying for growth, now the phones are ringing in my home—moms, speaking engagements. The Lord is touching many hearts. Now we have a night totally dedicated to praying for the children and their schools in an area where shootings are increasingly claiming many lives.”
Pennsylvania, USA
“It was a great opportunity to be aware of those in our congregation who are involved in our schools as staff and faculty, and of all of our students. It was a great opportunity to lift them all up to God for his protection, guidance, and encouragement, and I pray that it truly was an encouragement for each one prayed for. Thank you for beginning this event and we look forward to participating each year.”
Oceanside, CA, USA
“The Pastor was so enthusiastic about Moms in Touch (now Moms in Prayer) that a retired teacher came to our table and asked to be part of a group praying for the elementary school where she used to teach. Wonderful!!!”
Pleasanton, CA, USA
“My congregation is predominantly Korean and some of the moms came up to me afterward thrilled to begin praying for their children and their schools!”
Oregon, USA
“I had a gentlemen who has been a superintendent in various school districts come up to me at my booth and thanked me for the wonderful prayer warriors who have prayed for him through his career. He said it always meant so much to him to know there was a group covering him in prayer.”
Ohio, USA
“Our pastor had a teacher come forward and pray the blessing. Prior to praying, he stood up and gave a testimony about how Moms In Touch (now Moms in Prayer) was such a blessing to him! He told how he could see the results of our prayers and the doors at our school opening because of our prayers. I was so blessed! He then proceeded to pray a beautiful blessing over students and staff. God is so good and does more than we can ask or imagine!”
Texas, USA
“Our pastor is excited about doing this next year.”
