February is the month of love. Out of deep love for our children, we gather each week to pray for them. Then a surprising thing happens: we are changed. We see God working in our children’s lives, and we are filled with hope and greater faith. We
rejoice each week in God’s character and our love for Him deepens. It all spills over into our whole family. We benefit our kids in an unexpected way—by becoming better moms and better wives. Husbands notice. To celebrate the month of love, we thought we’d share what some MITI husbands are saying … |

I have had the most awesome,
exciting, meaningful experience seeing God
answer powerfully as Fern has faithfully
gone to her knees each and every day of our
thirty-nine years of marriage. She’s the
real deal.
A
bedrock foundation of faith in God was
poured into her life by her own mom who made
sure she was in church and exposed to the
Word at every opportunity. So, when the
turbulence of the adolescent years struck
our boys, she relied on that early
foundation, going to her knees—and calling
other moms to pray with her. Together they
approached the throne of the King seeking a
hedge of protection around their children,
their teachers and their school.

She had no idea
then where God would lead her over the next
two and a half decades. She was a mom who
loved her kids, and she faithfully followed
the leading of the Holy Spirit in her life.
Little did she know that God would use her
as a catalyst to stir moms around the world
to pray for their kids and their schools.
From my behind-the-scenes
vantage point I have also come to appreciate
the Moms In Touch husbands. Many of us
“bring home the bacon,” so that our wives
have the freedom to gather each week with
other moms to pray—or to serve in leadership
roles in the ministry. Husbands have
graciously made it possible for their wives
to travel to regional and national
conferences. Other men have been able and
willing to draw on their own experience and
training to offer critical skills, key
contacts and valuable leadership insights.
I’ve found that I hold one
thing in common with other behind-the-scenes
MITI husbands. We continue to find in our
wives a strong, moral fiber; a deep love of
our children; an unshakable commitment to us
as their husbands; and an eternal commitment
to our Lord.

Rain slicker $18 … backpack $42 … a praying mom … Priceless.
I cannot remember how far back it goes since my precious wife began a prayer group with another woman in town under the Moms In Touch umbrella to pray for our children. All I know is that, this many years forward, I have not only seen a tremendous difference in my own children, but I’ve seen the Moms In Touch movement both here in Suffolk County and in New York state grow to record numbers.
With our children growing up in the most challenging of times, it is only God who can make a difference, and by simply praying, a group of moms invite Him to provide a circle of protection over our children. I have come to love this organization—what it stands for and what it does; and I have grown so proud of all my wife has accomplished, most importantly in our own home. I encourage all you MITI husbands out there to support your wives in their mission of praying over your children. You’ll be happy you did.

As a husband I
am so thankful my wife, Kay, has had the
opportunity and privilege to be involved in MITI.
It has been exciting to see her grow
spiritually. I have seen her faith and trust in
God’s Word increase through the Four Steps of
Prayer. She has in turn had the opportunity to
apply His wisdom to her own life, as well as
share what she has learned with our children,
other women—and me.
Seventeen years
ago when she became involved in Moms In Touch, I
was appreciative, but I didn’t know a lot about
the ministry. It was several years later, when I
finally caught MITI’s “vision” of praying for
children and schools, and I really began to
support and encourage Kay in this ministry. As
God opened doors for her in MITI leadership, he
also opened doors for me to come alongside,
utilizing some of the gifts He has given me to
provide for her and the ministry.
As a father,
there is such comfort in knowing that our
children and their schools are being covered
weekly in earnest, scriptural and specific
prayer. Countless times, our daughters have come
to Kay asking for prayer about an issue at
school or in their lives and not long after that
have come back and shared the answer. While our
son is not as vocal about sharing prayer needs,
I am positive that he, too, feels God at work.
And I know they’ve all been caught when doing
wrong because of the prayers of my wife and the
other MITI moms!
As I reflect
back over the decade and a half that Kay has
been in MITI, I cannot think of a better way for
her to have invested her time. For this, I thank
our wonderful and great God!

Hello Fern and
Friends,
MITI has been a
big part of my wife’s life since our 29-year-old
son was in elementary school. It’s been a rough
haul for us over the past ten years, with all
that has happened to our children, and it
finally overwhelmed me. I fell into a deep
depression and was just about incapacitated for
almost a year. But God was faithful, and has
restored the joy in my life. He has given me a
new career to look forward to, and a renewed
sense of purpose. I am just now learning that
many of my wife’s MITI buddies have been praying
for us, and me specifically, through this whole
ordeal. My wife has put a lot of heart and soul
into MITI over the years, but we have gotten so
much more out of it. I just wanted to say
thanks.
Blessings,
A MITI Husband
P.S. I taught the Four Steps to my men’s Bible
study group.
