Ethiopia: MITI reaches 20 million!
This summer, 20 MITI ("mighty") moms
from around the USA felt the call of God to go to
Ethiopia and
share the hope, joy and unity found by gathering in groups
to pray using the Moms In Touch Four Steps of Prayer. Little did
they know that God would multiply their efforts so
quickly!
Nearly 900 Ethiopian
moms were delighted to learn new ways to pray for
their children. One mom said, "You are an answer to
our prayers. We have been praying for our children
just when they grow
up and have problems. We
did not know we should pray for our small children,
and for
God’s blessing on their lives ahead." We praise God for these loving women, and for the
chance to broadcast a MITI
training session via TV to 20 million other
Ethiopians!

In English the sign
says: “Jesus
Christ loves all people everywhere.”
“Ethiopians may be
very poor financially but they are extremely rich
spiritually,” Robin Clark, who works for MITI Headquarters as the Events
Department Assistant, wrote
of her experience in Ethiopia. “We learned much from
them. Some have been persecuted and imprisoned for
their faith. …
We saw many people
on the streets accept Christ as women
in our group
shared the gospel through our translators and the
wordless picture book or Evangecube.”
We
praise God for the outpouring of prayer and
financial support on behalf of this missions trip,
in which MITI teamed up with
e3 Partners (formerly
Global Missions Fellowship).

Praise Report
We
were able to meet one another and divide into teams
of three to go to seven different sites throughout
Addis Ababa. Caroline Mosonik and Judy Birir from
Kenya, Africa were able to join us for the training.
They have many groups in the area where they live
and were excited to learn more so they could take it
back to the women of their country. Everyone was
very excited to start the trainings the next day.

Praise Report
Today in Ethiopia the US team prayed with and shared
the Four Steps with seven groups of 50-60 women. The
Ethiopian women expressed to us that Moms In Touch
was an answer to their prayers. They love praying
for their children and quickly embraced the ideas of
praying through praise, confession, thanksgiving and
intercession using Scripture. Their hearts were
deeply touched, and they soaked it all in. The
Ethiopian women know God will make a difference in
their country through prayer “for such a time as
this.” The US women were so energized by the
sessions of worship and training that they hardly
noticed the long walk back to their bus on a rocky
trail.

Praise Report
As
our training came to an end it was so rewarding to
see that each of the women who had come to be
trained had been changed and were excited to go and
tell others. They all began talking about how they
were going to start groups in their local areas. The
afternoon brought a celebration with all the women
from the seven different sites coming together. It
was so awesome to see how God had worked with over
600 women in attendance.

Praise Report
Everyone’s health is good. Praise the Lord! We
taught the MITI format to over 400 women today.
Again, the Ethiopian women were very excited and
receptive. They repeated that we were an answer to
prayer and that God had called us to Ethiopia “for
such a time as this.”

Praise Report
Today, the US team shared Moms In Touch with 480
women in Soddo, Wolaitta. In the late afternoon,
over 700 women from each of the seven groups
attended a celebration in a very large church.
During the celebration, the six Ethiopian women who
had been praying for over 27 years gave gifts to
every woman on the training team. It was a scarf
that they put around us and prayed blessings upon
us. What beautiful, sweet fellowship we enjoyed!

Praise Report
The team was informed that our morning training
session and the celebration the night before had
been video taped. This video was broadcast in the
afternoon to 20 million viewers in Ethiopia!
Some quotes from the women we had trained and the
pastors of the churches:
Church leaders Pastor
Yoseph & Ribca Menna
-
We are so thankful
you have come.
-
You are an answer
to our prayer.
-
Johannes (elder at
church site who sat through most of training) -
Their way of praying (the Ethiopian women) is
like begging, continually asking God to bless
them. These women (USA moms) praise and thank
God first. They (the Ethiopian moms) need
this.
The women at Asco said they have opportunity 4-5
times per week to pray with different groups. But
the children seem to be neglected in prayer unless
there is trouble, then they pray.
God has sent prayer sisters to us.
-
NOW we know that
carrying our burdens together is most important.
-
Praying for child
by name is different for us.
-
Thank you for
bringing idea from abroad to change our prayers.
-
A very old woman -
I praise my God for how He taught us this
different way to pray and to pray for the next
generation.
Quotes from our Kenyan sisters:

Judy Birir at 1st celebration:
My dear sisters, the hand of God and these moms from
the US have united the hands of the women from Kenya
with the women of Ethiopia. This is a miracle to us.
We are united moms in prayer to pray for one common
thing - the child. In these last days it is so
timely to pray. Don’t take the life of a child for
granted. We have been praying alone for years. Thank
you to the founder and our sisters from America. Do
not get tired!
Caroline at 1st celebration:
Let us come together as leaders and women to pray.
Our reasons for going to Ethiopia...

Mom will you pray for me? You
will! Thanks mom!!!!
