MITI groups meet in women’s prisons in 20
states?
“God is bringing hope to women who
are painfully separated from their children,”
reports Valerie Eaton, MITI Prison Ministry
Facilitator for seven years. “Through prayer, He
brings healing to women who have lost hope. One
inmate had not heard from her children in many
years. As she began praying in MITI, God
softened her heart. She confessed to her
daughter-in-law the anger and dislike she had
harbored; the inmate further shared that God
wanted her to bless her daughter-in-law and pray
Scripture for her children. Her daughter-in-law
responded with a card and pictures of the
grandbabies, and this inmate is now reconnected
with her family. I have the awesome privilege of
seeing God’s miracles happen!
a
“I
often receive requests from inmates who have
heard about MITI and want a group for their
prison. Some women have been transferred and
have taken MITI to the new prison. One
prison chaplain requested we start a group
at her prison because of the positive
changes in behavior she had seen in MITI
moms. Inmates are also getting involved in
groups upon release, and receive focus,
purpose and support that is helping them
stay straight.”
From MITI inmates …
“My three children are going to prosper
greatly in the loving arms of Jesus. Thank
you for helping me place them there.” Nicki
“What a gift to have blessed us with Moms In
Touch! Each of our children will be
protected and guided and watched over.”
Harriet
“Thank you for helping me with the tools I
need to be there for my kids.” JoDee

Grandma
In our Grandmas In Touch group we prayed for
our grandchildren from Ephesians 2:10 that
they would realize they are “God’s
workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do
good works, which God prepared in advance
for them to do.” We prayed that they would
have confidence in Christ.
My three and a half-year-old granddaughter
lives on the opposite coast, and she can be
very shy. At times she will hardly talk with
me on the phone. As another grandma and I
prayed this verse for Kailee, we prayed that
she would know that God was with her in
everything she did; that God would make her
strong in situations that made her feel shy;
and that her shyness would not cause her to
shrink inward. We prayed for her parents
that they would be able to help her become
more outgoing. One of our specific prayer
requests was that God would help my son find
a good church for the family. Much to my
delight, my son phoned a few weeks later.
They had found a church only eight miles
away and—Kailee got on the phone to tell me
how she loved going to church. Thank You,
Father! My son said she wasn’t shy there, in
fact, she didn’t want to leave. She is
learning more and more to interact with
others her age. Father, thank You that,
though I cannot be with her, You are always
with her. For Grandmas In Touch

Special Needs
From Shelly Boeve, Moms In
Touch with Special Needs Kids
Do you sometimes feel helpless to meet the
challenges of your special needs child? Are
you discouraged and wish you had other
“special-needs” moms to share with? Do you
believe that prayer is the most important
thing you can do for your child?
If so, consider joining a group of moms who
get together to pray scripturally for their
kids. We are a Mom In Touch group with the
common bond of special needs kids and our
Christian faith. We have been blessed to
share each other’s burdens and joys and have
made wonderful friends in the process. We
would love to meet you and pray with you for
your child!
These are the words I penned in 1998
inviting moms to a Moms In Touch group to
pray for our special needs children. My
daughter, Melissa, born with significant
physical and cognitive impairments, was
three years old at the time. I remember
calling for contact information for a Moms
In Touch group for moms with special needs
children, but none existed, and I was
challenged to form one. Although physically
and emotionally overwhelmed in caring for my
daughter, my need to connect with other moms
in my situation spurred me on. I called two
other moms, and we started meeting the
following month. We posted the ad above and
soon grew to ten moms; for six years we were
like sisters. God grew us spiritually and
emotionally and gave us the strength to
fulfill the task He had given us.
After that original group disbanded, a
couple of years went by, and I began
noticing that the Lord was calling new moms
into the motherhood of His special children
all around me. I decided to start a new
group, which now has a dozen members. God
has been so good in His provision of moms
with whom to share our joys, burdens, and
victories. God is faithful!

International
From Mercy Ebong, Nigeria Country
Coordinator:
My school is doing great and the MITI in my
school is doing great also. My daughter, who
got married in December, has started a very
big MITI group in her husband’s church.
There are 386 ladies in that church. They
meet every Tuesday to pray. The Lord is
good. MITI is now a special course I teach
in my husband’s Bible college. It is so that
a pastor who graduates must have a good
knowledge of MITI to take back to his or her
church and school.
From author and speaker Cheri Fuller in
Zambia:
I have never spoken to a more spiritually
hungry and thirsty group of women than the
precious women in Zambia. One of the women
had read my book, When Mothers Pray,
and wanted to start a MITI group. The Lord
led me in one of the sessions to go through
the Moms In Touch prayer format beginning
with Praise, then Silent Confession,
Thanksgiving and Intercession. It flowed
beautifully. Many women caught a vision for
the power and gift of prayer, and were eager
to get the MITI booklet and pray in groups.
From Debbie on a mission trip to Jakarta,
Indonesia:
Our introduction of MITI went very well. It
had been estimated that maybe six to eight
moms might come, but fourteen moms came,
along with two teachers, and the
superintendent! The women of this Christian
school totally grasped the new concept and
were ready to put it into practice. They
have a heart for God’s presence and blessing
in their school. I believe that MITI will
have great success at their school—and God
will grow other groups in Jakarta.
From Janell Meister, Santa Barbara Area
Coordinator on vacation in the Virgin
Islands:
Friends had invited us to spend ten days on
the beautiful island of Tortola in the
British Virgin Islands. My husband and I
were thrilled at the opportunity. Before we
left, I tucked three Moms In Touch booklets
and some member sheets into my suitcase with
a prayer that God would allow me to share
Moms In Touch with one mom on the island.
Throughout the first week of our stay, I
continued to ask God to show me that mom. I
tried not to remind Him that time was
running out, when on the seventh day, while
shopping in the village of Road Town, I met
“my” mom.
At a darling little shop, I saw a shirt I
thought my husband might like. Once inside,
we were drawn to a stunning quilt depicting
an island mother and child. “How much?” I
asked the lovely shopkeeper, who turned out
to be the one who had made it. She quoted a
good price, but more than we had with us.
“We’ll come back for it,” I assured her, but
the shopkeeper told me she wouldn’t be there
the next day.
“You won’t be here because you’ll be in
church,” I said, somehow knowing before I
asked.
“Yes, I will,” she replied.
“Have you heard about Moms In Touch?” I
asked.
“No, tell me about it,” came the invitation
I had been praying for.
On Monday I returned with the Moms In Touch
materials, and my new friend promised to
give them to her pastor’s wife that evening.
Tuesday, my husband and I were at the beach
when I suddenly realized it was already 4:00
pm. “We have to get back,” I exclaimed, “in
case the pastor’s wife phones.” Just as we
reached the door, the phone was ringing!
Sister Sherril invited me to come and share
with their mom’s group—that night. They meet
every other Tuesday night, and it just
happened to be that Tuesday!
I jumped at the chance. What a delight to be
guest speaker for the evening. Seventeen
beautiful ladies representing six different
schools heard about the four steps of prayer
and the great hope we have in praying
Scripture for our children. Their
enthusiastic response was overwhelming.
Please pray for these ladies on the island
of Tortola as they begin their Moms In Touch
groups.
God answered my prayer in a way I could
never have imagined. He loves Moms In Touch,
and He loves to send ambassadors to the far
corners of the earth.
Postscript: Janell’s MITI group has
“adopted” the Tortola moms, remembering to
pray for them and for all the schools on the
island. They sent a package of MITI
booklets, training videos, and other MITI
materials.
