Moms In Touch Shared at a Prayer Conference
in Northern Venezuela
|
Barbara Cole, a Moms In Touch leader in Pennsylvania, took her second trip with e3 Partners and MITI to Venezuela in May. She was thrilled to be invited by Pastor Acosto to present MITI at a prayer conference of 200 people in Caripe.
People came from many churches in the states of Anzoategui and Monagas, and beyond, to attend the conference. Many pastors also attended, paying close attention and taking notes. They told Barbara they were looking forward to taking this information back to the women in their churches. As Barbara noted, it will be fascinating to see what God does with the MITI training here and how far reaching this will be to women
in Venezuela.
Deisy Ordonez, the e3 Partners Venezuela in-country coordinator, and her friend Reina Ruiz Milano are wonderful advocates for MITI in Venezuela. Both of these ladies have been instrumental in having Barbara share and train women in Anaco and Maturin, and now in Caripe, thanks to Pastor Acosto.
The first day of the prayer conference in Caripe started with the team from Anaco leading worship. Afterward, Barbara was introduced as "Ba-ba-da Co-lay." Barbara began the training session by showing photos of her family and her Moms In Touch group back home. She shared Fern's testimony of how God prompted her to start MITI, the powerful weapon of intercessory prayer for our children and schools, praying in one accord and the Four Steps of Prayer. Ending the session, Barbara directed the attendees as they huddled in groups of three to four people and prayed. She used the illustration of placing their children on a mat and taking them to Jesus just as the friends of the paralytic did in
Luke 5:17-20.
The second session began with prayer for missionaries around the world, and many of the Anaco church members dressed as people from other nations. Barbara shared testimonies of how God had answered specific prayers for her Moms In Touch group at home and how, in turn, God could answer prayer for moms in Venezuela. Attendees were then taken through a time devoted to preparing a prayer sheet. Barbara explained how the MITI leader guides the group through the prayer hour using the sheet. Finally, Barbara shared the excitement of Arise! Cry Out!, a worldwide day of extraordinary prayer for children and schools on November 14, and prayed for God to lead these women to answer His call whether they would become a MITI group leader or host a group in their home.
Afterward, Barbara was overjoyed when 21 ladies came forward with an interest to lead a MITI group! Many of them asked questions, and everyone received MITI materials. The pastors in attendance thanked Barbara for sharing this ministry with them and told her they were excited to put it into practice.
Another opportunity came to share MITI on the last Sunday before Barbara left Venezuela. Reina Ruiz Milano was able to secure a time at the end of service to share MITI at the Iglesia Cristiana Evangelica "Luz del Mundo" in Maturin. Barbara gave examples of how God had answered prayer through her MITI group in Pennsylvania, and told them of her desire to return and train the women of this church. Her presentation was very well received. We pray that God will give her the opportunity to return to Maturin and train the women there. |
