Summer reading guide
Wow! Can you believe another school year is coming to a close? Bring on summer!

MITI      And while you’re at it, pick up a good book or two to devour while enjoying the beach, traveling or lounging near a pool.
Fern Nichols, President and Founder of Moms In Touch International, has chosen several books on prayer she recommends as great summer reading. Two are special Bibles, two are devotionals, and five are books of testimonies and encouragement. Each book mentions Moms In Touch in a special way.

Bibles

Grandmother's Bible
Designed especially for grandmas and filled with prayers for grandchildren and 365 devotions (four from Fern Nichols!), this beautiful new devotional Bible is a must-have for all grandmothers.
With a beautiful, floral hardcover, this special Bible features a pocket to display a photo of
your grandchildren.

NIV Prayer Devotional Bible
Take a prayer journey through the Scriptures with this unique Bible, in which Moms In Touch International is featured. Biographies of intercessors, special “Prayer Boxes,” and the foreword by Pastor Jim Cymbala, author of Fresh Wind Fresh Fire, make this Bible a special treat.

Devotionals

10 Minute Time Out for Moms by Grace Fox
Mom, do you need a break? Enjoy some quiet time by yourself—away from the kids, away from the dishes—and spend time with God, the Father. This inspiring book is filled with down-to-earth stories, Scripture-based prayers and practical guidance for everyday moms.

Praying Through the Bible by Cheri Fuller
Fern Nichols enjoys using this devotional, based on Scriptural prayers. Each day’s devotions include a prayer, a relevant quote and verses from The One Year Bible, which you can read from your own Bible. This great devotional includes an index of dates and Scripture references.

Books of Encouragement

Mom...and Loving It! by Laurie Lovejoy Hilliard, Sharon Lovejoy Autry
Are you feeling discouraged, guilt-ridden, frazzled or down-right exhausted? These two sisters provide encouragement to not only keep going, but to find joy and contentment in the daily mothering tasks. Discussion questions at the end of each chapter help the reader think through practical applications.

From One Single Mother to Another: Heart-Lifting Encouragement and Practical Advice
by Sandra P. Aldrich
Filled with authenticity and the day-to-day reality of being a mother (especially a single mother), Sandra Aldrich shares practical advice and encouraging anecdotes about raising children, and how to ensure single-parent homes aren’t “broken homes." Fern says, “This book is great for married moms, too.”

Passionaries: Turning Compassion into Action by Barbara Metzler
The author shares the story of 35 Christian leaders who have put their compassion into action. This inspiring book, which features MITI, makes a great read while sitting on the beach.

Got Teens? Time-Tested Answers for Moms of Teens and Tweens by Jill Savage and Pam Farrell
If you’ve got a teen, 'tween or young adult, check out this book by Jill Savage, founder of Hearts at Home, and Pam Farrel, co-founder of Masterful Living. This book shares practical, biblical advice on navigating these rough seas.

Every Child Needs a Praying Mom by Fern Nichols
“In this book, Fern takes you personally on her journey of becoming a powerful pray-er,” author and speaker Evelyn Christenson writes in the foreword. “Her practical tools woven throughout the book show how you too can become a biblically accurate intercessor. Brimming with awesome true illustrations, this book will continuously propel you to trust what God will do when you have the courage to pray.”

PIGGY BANK
Last month, we received a special surprise from June Jones of New Jersey. She and her husband were on vacation in Southern California and stopped by Moms In Touch Headquarters to deliver the contents of a bright pink, see-through piggy bank. As a MITI group leader, she had encouraged her ladies to donate their change.
She lifted up the clear piggy bank stuffed with dollar bills: “I think they were donating more than
just change,” she smiled.
In our staff prayer time that morning, we had prayed that moms would be willing to donate even small amounts. What a quick answer to prayer! A couple of hours later, June was in our modest office with a piggy bank filled with $69.
How we rejoice at God’s provision and blessing!

BRIDGE CALL
In May, eight women were able to discuss Moms In Touch International in Russian, while sitting in their homes in Minnesota. The moderator of the “bridge call” said, “All the moms expressed their appreciation for this means of communication. They felt inspired to pray together.”
MITI will continue to set up bridge calls in a variety of languages. We’ll keep you posted!

Good news from GoodSearch! We have earned $146 just by moms like you using www.GoodSearch.com as their search engine. If you designate Moms In Touch as your recipient, then MITI earns a penny for every search. Those pennies sure add up!

Did You Know?
MITI in the Summertime

As the school year winds down, so do our MITI groups. But did you know that some groups get together during the summer? Consider these ideas:

  • Meet periodically throughout the summer to pray for your children and school.
  • Invite the moms from your MITI group to bring their families for a fun picnic or barbecue. Fern Nichols says, "It's nice to have the fathers and kids see what MITI is all about." And it's fun for the moms to see the kids they pray for.
  • Are there kids in your group who are graduating or being promoted onto another school? If your group is comfortable with this idea, invite them over for a time of praying a special blessing over each child.

What a joy it is to meet the families for
whom you pray. Just remember that
all prayers are confidential, so
please don't ask Little Johnny or Teen
Theresa for updates about requests
prayed in a MITI group.

Fern Nichols along with Marlae Gritter and other women in MITI leadership met in Kansas over Memorial Day Weekend to pray for the students who gathered for the unique Paradise youth event.
“A four hour block of time set aside to worship the King of Kings without other distractions: Wow!” Marlae shares, “In a generation of young people who seem to be constantly multi-tasking, what a breath of fresh air to look upon this ‘unplugged’ crowd focused on a bare stage and listening to God’s Word proclaimed through the large speakers as well as the live worship music (with no musicians seen) for four plus hours straight.
“We seemed to be living out Psalm 95:1-2, ‘Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord, Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.’” (NASB)
