Happy New Year!

As we embark on another new year, we look forward with anticipation and expectation to all the Lord will do through the prayers of moms, just like you, praying around the world for their children and schools.

While we say goodbye to 2007, we encourage you to set aside time with the Lord to reflect on all He has done for you over the past year.  As Fern Nichols, founder and president of Moms In Touch, wrote in Every Child Needs a Praying Mom: "Sometimes I'll pull down from the shelf my old prayer journals, and while I'm reading the answers to prayer, I'll become thankful all over again. In those times when we aren't seeing answers, we can find comfort and encouragement as we go back to our journals and rehearse all the previous answers to prayer." 

As we start another year, consider setting new goals for your Moms In Touch group. Is there someone you can invite to pray with you? Do you know a mom whose child is struggling in school, yet she's not connected with a Moms In Touch group? Help her find or start one. If she isn't able to locate another mom from her school, let her pray with your group until God raises up a prayer partner for her.

     We have been so blessed by the outpouring of year-end gifts for our ministry. We are humbled and grateful that God has given us a strong beginning toward our 2008 expenses with donations that have exceeded the $110,000 Matching Grant Challenge! To God be the glory! As Moms In Touch Headquarters serves over 175,000 women around the world, these gifts from generous praying moms, like yourself, will help with operations, computer technology, communications, staff, and more, thus allowing us to continue our mission to cover more children and schools in prayer.

RECIPES WITH A 'MOM'S TOUCH' Looking for a simple recipe to warm up your family on a chilly night? Try this recipe from MITI mom Loree Smith of Tulsa, Oklahoma, printed in the MITI cookbook,       "Recipes With a 'Mom's Touch." CHICKEN CHILI 1 pound cooked chicken, chopped 1 medium onion, chopped 1 clove garlic, minced 2 14 1/2-ounce cans chicken broth 1 4-ounce can chopped green chilies 2 teaspoons ground cumin 1/2 tsp black pepper 2 16-ounce cans navy beans Sauté onion and garlic in nonstick cooking spray in soup pot. Add other ingredients and bring to a boil uncovered, simmering until desired thickness. Optional toppings: Shredded cheese, salsa and/or sour cream
