“You may take
me off your mailing list, my son is
graduating from high school,” is a common message we receive each year. And our
hearts cry, don’t stop now!
After high school our sons and
daughters are leaving the protection
of our homes; they will be facing
relentless challenges to their
faith; they will be making crucial
decisions about their
futures—entering a career, selecting
a mate. Moms, they still need the
covering protection of our corporate
prayers—possibly more than ever. In
times like these, we must continue
calling out to God in one accord for
the lives of our children.
If you are the mother of a senior in
high school, for you, a new season
is beginning. The daily
responsibilities of raising this
child are coming to an end, and your
role is changing. As our children
become young adults, seeking their
own way in the world, our hearts
desire is that it will be the
Lord they will seek, His
will, His guidance, His
abundant life.
We can pray with confidence knowing
that this is God’s desire for our
children as well. Continue praying
from God’s own words for your sons
and daughters.
Jesus, You came that ________ may
have life, and that he/she may have
it more abundantly. I pray that
________ will find that You are the
door. If ________ enters by You,
he/she will be saved, and will go in
and out and find pasture. The thief
does not come except to steal, and
to kill, and to destroy, but You,
Jesus, are the good Shepherd who
gives His life for the sheep. (from
