Planting, Watering, Reaping
by Doug Clark
See You at the Pole
is an annual student-led prayer
gathering at schools around the world.
Millions of teenagers pray at their
school flagpoles before classes that
day: for their peers, their schools,
their national leaders, and for
themselves.
Sometimes one
story captures the vision and impact of
why and for whom we pray.
This is such a story.
April was a
student at a high school in San Diego,
who participated in See You at the
Pole (SYATP). From her own
experience, she wrote:
During SYATP at my
school, I read a Christian essay called
The Room. Later, at lunch, an
older woman pulled me aside. I assumed
she was a teacher.
She asked me, "That was
you who read this morning, wasn't it?"
At this point, I was sure
I was about to get expelled, as she said
it rather sharply.
I replied, "Yes, that
was me."
She began asking me
various questions. I answered, though I
felt like she was gathering evidence
against me; as if I had done something
wrong.
