Summer Quiet Time Prepares You for Summer Fun

From Founder Fern Nichols

Do you want a great, fun-filled summer with your kids? I've got the answer. It's time-tested and it works!

Decide

to spend time with your almighty, living, heavenly Father each morning. A little time with Jesus is better than no time at all. "Lord, as I bask in the presence of the 'Rose of Sharon,' may Your sweet fragrance be sensed by my children throughout the day." (Luke 10:39)

Read

Scripture--the Psalms are a good place to start or a verse printed in the Mom's Prayer Journal. God's Word is sufficient to transform your day--even those irritable, cranky, yelling, non-servant-mom days. "Father may Your Word dwell in me richly." (Colossians 3:16)

Pray

back to your Heavenly Father the Scripture you just read; intercede for each child. Surrender your day to Him-- every aspect of it. "May Your will be done." (Matthew 6:9-13)

Thank

Him that He is your strength, your deliverer, your helper, your guide, your friend and your sufficiency for every need. "Thank You that You hear my prayers and know all my needs even before I ask." (Matthew 6:8)

Know

that you are not alone as a mom. Our mighty God is the warrior at your right hand. Send up those "help me" requests throughout the day--and don't forget the "thank you's." Remember, you are raising an army useful for the Lord. Include your personal Savior in this great calling. "Faithful Lord, may I never forget the incredible ministry You have given me--to be the mother of my children." (1Thessalonians 2:7,8)

Choose

today to enjoy your sons and daughters. You can never rewind a day and do it over. "I pray, Father, lighten me up! May I delight in my children as You delight in me. The joy of the Lord is my strength." (Nehemiah 8:10)

Summer is here and it's picnic time. Here is a great salad recipe from the MITI cookbook.
It's one of those quick to make and easy to carry foods that's sure to become a favorite.
It's cool and crisp with a bit of sweetness to it. And since there is no mayo in the
dressing, you don't have to worry when you take it on a picnic.
